As of the 2010 census, the city population was 15,195. The city is the county seat of Rockdale County. The formerly separate town of Milstead is now part of Conyers.

Conyers is located at 33°39′59″N 84°0′27″W (33.666360, −84.007574). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.9 square miles (31 km²), of which 11.8 square miles (31 km²) are land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²) (1.17%) is covered by water.
